Swissair crash probe

The opposition wants the federal government to investigate following disturbing allegations that the Swissair flight that crashed off the coast of Nova Scotia in 1998, was caused by an explosive.
A former RCMP arson investigator claims there is evidence showing highly flammable chemicals were found near the cockpit but when he tried to investigate further, his superiors and officials with the Transportation Safety Board, stopped him.
229 people died when the flight crashed as it was flying from New York to Zurich.
The original investigation concluded a fire started due to electrical wiring and the crash was an accident.
Whether the claims are true or not, the serious allegations are from a credible source and the NDP’s Joe Comartin says the RCMP and the Transportation Safety Board need to answer some questions.
“Why his evidence was not accepted, the work he did, the scientific work he did, is he wrong? Then make it clear why he’s wrong and if he’s not then we have to reopen the investigation immediately.”
Both organizations have not yet returned our phone calls.
Both the New Democrats and The Liberals say it’s too early for a public inquiry but for the sake of the victims families we need to get to the bottom of this.
