Finding a parking spot this winter could be a little more difficult

A city committee recommends Calgary establish no-parking snow routes.
The idea is if vehicles are removed from priority one and priority two routes, snow plows can clear away the snow faster, improving traffic flow.
The plan, which will be sent to council next month, would go into effect when the city gets five centimetres or more of snow.
Over the course of the winter, Calgary is pounded by storms of five centimetres or more 20 times.
Signs would be posted on hundreds of kilometres of roads, including many downtown.
The proposal would impact about 15 per cent of the parking spots in the city.
To begin with, only warnings would be issued to drivers who don’t comply, but repeat offenders could be ticketed and towed.
