Newly-elected Liberal leader Raj Sherman is in Calgary talking energy and support for the controversial Keystone XL Pipeline project.
He was joined by Deputy leader Kent Hehr.
Sherman and Hehr are calling for increased and environmentally-responsible upgrading capacity so Albertans see better economic benefits from oil and gas.
Sherman says he made certain promises in his campaign and he intends to keep those promises.
“Business and industry pay for people programs that Albertans need and value, like education and health care. In my leadership campaign, I promised that the Alberta Liberals would shift in a more business-friendly direction,” says Sherman.
Both Sherman and Hehr have made it clear the province needs to enhance its energy sector as well protect the environment.
