Pressure’s on for remaining Tory leadership hopefuls

The clock is ticking down to Saturday’s Tory leadership vote, and the stakes are high for the three vying for the premier’s chair.

According to one political scientist, the new premier will have to lead the province during global economic turmoil and a fragile recovery.

Grant MacEwan University’s Chaldeans Mensah also tells The Calgary Herald, the opposition parties represent more of a threat than ever before.

He says whoever wins the second ballot will either be the one to have kept the Tories’ 40-year dynasty intact after the next election, or the one who lets the Tory grip on Alberta slip away.

Gary Mar, Alison Redford and Doug Horner are all vying for the job.
