City expands pet program

The city’s “I heart my pet” program is expanding and will be offering better rewards for responsible pet owners.
Bylaw Boss Bill Bruce tells 660News Calgarians have already shown they’re responsible and the city wants to recognize that.
“Calgary actually has the highest success rate of animal licensing in North America and that goes hand in hand with also having the lowest euthanasia rate of animals and the highest return to owner of lost pets. Cats for example, we’re now at 55 per cent of cats go home while the Canadian average is two per cent,” says Bruce.
Some of the rewards include pet supplies as well as oil changes, even accommodations in Banff.
