Albertans’ most optimistic about retiring early and debt free

A new retirement survey from CIBC has found Albertans’ are the most confident about leaving the workforce before the age of 65, and without a lot of bills.

On average, Albertans believe they will retire at the age of 62, the national average is 63.

Only 18 per cent of people in this province also think they will be carrying some debt into their golden years, across the rest of the country, that number is running closer to 50 per cent.

The Senior Director of Retail and Business Banking with CIBC tells 660News, the figures suggest most  Albertans are socking away a good portion of their paycheques.

Geoff Dylan also says their survey also found the retirement optimism of Albertans does not fade with age, like it does in other parts of the country.
