Dustin Paxton was defiant to the end of a three hour police interrogation following his arrest in August of last year.
Paxton’s assault trial continued Friday morning while court heard a video tape of that interview.
Paxton maintained his innocence and repeatedly denied all allegations by the two officers involved. Paxton said of the victim “I can’t explain everything that happened to him; not in this room. If you guys want to do it in a courtroom, you can when I’ve got a lawyer there who can help me. I need a lawyer by my side because I’ve got nobody on my side.”
When pressed about the number and severity of the victim’s wounds Paxton told police he couldn’t explain them, adding “I don’t know what happened to every square inch of this guy. Maybe he got hit by somebody else.” One of the officers replied “No, he got hit by you.” Paxton replied “That’s not the case, my friend.”
The trial continues.
