Alzheimer’s walk and run

This year’s 21st edition of the Investors Group Thanksgiving Memory Walk and Run which has wrapped up for another year.
660’s Dominic Terry served as host at the Alzheimer Society of Calgary’s signature event, raising awareness and funds for people living with dementia in the city.
Close to 1500 people took part in the 5km walk and 10km run.
Many wore pictures of loved ones who were or are affected with the disease.
Toni ran the 10km race and tells 660News Alzheimer’s has impacted her family.
“My grandma passed away from Alzheimer’s a couple of years ago, so it’s a good cause and it’s so nice to do it with my husband.”
Over 500,000 Canadians live with dementia today. More than 60 per cent have Alzheimer’s.
As of 2010, 36.5 million people worldwide are living with dementia.
