Police puzzled over bogus phone calls

City police are reminding Calgarians to use emergency resources responsibly after responding to a number of bogus phone calls.
The phony calls usually report there’s a fire arm threat, but upon arrival police find the claim to be false.
Duty Inspector Paul Stacey says the calls waste the police’s limited resources.
“We respond to fit the circumstances that were given and then it turns out to be a lot of nothing. When we can deploy our resources more effectively somewhere else, these types of calls are troublesome,” Stacey says.
Anyone who intentionally enters the police into a false investigation can be charged.
