Calgary is a city that keeps growing and new numbers from the city suggest it’s growing in different ways.
For September 2011 compared to the same time last year, residential values are up 87 per cent and non-residential values are up 41 per cent.
The city’s David Watson says higher density residential construction continues to grow and so far in 2011 there are permits for over 7,500 new residential units.
He says new apartment construction accounts for 3,042 of those new residences, townhouse projects account for another 922 and less then half of new residential construction involves single family homes.
