TNS Canada reports the downward trend is now at four-months and counting.
Ongoing global economic problems, like the European debt crisis and wild swings on the stock markets are taking a toll on the psyche of Canadians.
The vice president of TNS Canada says consumers don’t see a quick end to the financial problems facing the world and that could prompt many people to rein in their holiday spending.
Norman Baillie-David says confidence is a fickle thing adding a little good news sure would be welcomed.
“Stock market rallies, if they resolve Europe and have a big announcement, we could see this bottom out, hopefully that would happen but im not putting bets on it.”
Baillie-David says an increasing number of people are now talking about putting off major purchases and more Canadians are voicing concern about job security.
