Rollover injures two

Police believe a driver had been drinking and was speeding when he rolled his vehicle on the city’s south end Saturday morning.

The crash shut down westbound 130th Avenue S.E. at northbound Deerfoot Trail for five hours.

Duty Inspector Darren Leggatt tells 660News two people were hurt when the driver lost control.

“At about 1:44 this morning, Calgary Police Service, Calgary Fire Department and Calgary EMS, responded to a single vehicle rollover accident in the area of 130th Avenue and Deerfoot Trail southeast,” says Leggatt.

The driver was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters using the Jaws of Life.

He was rushed to hospital in serious, life-threatening condition while his passenger escaped with minor injuries.
