Another brouhaha brewing on Parliament Hill

Don’t be surprised to see a giant, wooden trojan horse parked on Parliament Hill in Ottawa this week as part of a planned protest over a possible free-trade deal between Canada and the European Union.
Opponents of the multi-billion dollar Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) say the deal — with the EU’s 27 member states and 500 million consumers — will hurt Canadian companies and destroy Canadian jobs.
But business and the governing Harper Conservatives insist the deal will be a boon to the Canadian economy.
In today’s Calgary Herald, former Canadian trade negotiator Peter Clark agrees the deal will come at a hefty price for Canada. But he adds we have little choice with the need to establish a free-trade deal with Europe before the Americans gain a foothold.
Monday marks the start of the ninth, and potentially final round of negotiations, between Canada and the EU.
