New digital library for all Calgarians

A new research hub is now open for all Calgarians to enjoy.
The U of C held its official grand opening of the Taylor Family digital library with special guests including Premier Alison Redford and Mayor Naheed Nenshi.
The $206-million building features an array of books, artifacts and even an interactive room with a floor-to-ceiling, wraparound touch-screen display.
The city helped pay for the building with a $3.2-million investment. Mayor Nenshi says great libraries make great universities. “We have to invest in our universities to have a city that is economically and socially resilient in the long-term,” said Nenshi.
U of C graduate Don Taylor chipped in $25-million and says he’s happy to see the space is being used in multiple ways. “I noticed a young fellow just a little while ago having a snooze at one of the work stations.”
Anybody with a Calgary Public Library card can use the new digital library.
