On the heels of Alberta’s new distracted driving law, the Canadian Automobile Association is launching a contest to raise awareness about the dangers of texting and driving.
It’s open to all high school and post secondary students who are asked to create a video.
The CAA’s Don Szarko tells 660News multi-tasking while behind the wheel increases your risk of a collision significantly.
“One of the things we know from recent research is that texting is still one of those incredibly high-risk things that we seem to want to do behind the wheel,” says Szarko.
The top 10 submissions in the video contest will compete for a $3,000 prize.
