Saturday marks the opening of Telus Spark – The New Science Centre. It is Canada’s first new science centre in over 25 years.
Telus Spark celebrated the opening with demonstrations and special guests, including Mayor Naheed Nenshi and Premier Alison Redford.
The facility features a creative kids museum, an open studio, Calgary’s only HD digital dome theatre and presentation theatre. There are also 100 new exhibits.
Redford also addressed the $20 dollar admission fee, which some Calgarians had commented was too high. The premier says she’ll discuss it with the centre’s board.
Saturday’s landmark opening marked the conclusion of infrastructure projects across Alberta under the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund, a key part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
