Paxton’s alleged victim testifies

CALGARY – A man allegedly tortured by his former roommate says the beating started the very first day they were together.
The man, who cannot be identified, told Dustin Paxton’s trial in Calgary that Paxton got mad and started hitting him in the head with a steel-toed boot.
The man said the beating lasted about 10 or 15 minutes and Paxton apologized the next day.
The witness said one time Paxton flew into a rage over some hash browns in the fridge and started punching him in the face.
He said he didn’t leave because he didn’t want to be a sissy.
Monday morning defence lawyer Jim Lutz tried to have Crown prosecute Joe Mercier thrown off the case, claiming a witness was offered a deal in exchange for his testimony.
The judge ruled there was no conflict, and Mercier will remain on the case.
Paxton has pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated assault, sexual assault and forcible confinement.
