Tuesday marks the start of Movember

Tuesday is the first day of November, which also means it is the first day of Movember.
Movember is a month-long event that sees men around the world grow moustaches to help raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research.
This year the campaign has special meaning in Ottawa with dozens of MP’s from all parties taking part.
MP Olivia Chow told 660News it is an emotional time for her but when it came to battling cancer her late husband, NDP Leader Jack Layton, always had the same message.
“Keep hope alive, we will find a cure. There are a lot more solutions and a lot more treatments now than before,” said Chow.
Liberal MP Justin Trudeau, whose father, Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, died of prostate cancer in 2000, told 660News he hopes this campaign gets rid of the awkward stigma men have about getting checked.
“We’re notorious for not going to the doctors enough. For not taking our own health seriously until it’s too late,” said Trudeau.
Last year, nearly 120,000 Canadians took part in Movember and raised over $22-million.
