A friendly reminder from the Calgary Fire Department this weekend: Check your smoke alarms when you’re setting your clocks back.
Last year, crews responded to 2,300 fires in Calgary and it’s vital to test the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.
The Fire Department’s Brian McAsey says a lot of resources available if Calgarians have questions about testing them.
“Calgaryfire.ca,” he says. “We have a lot of great information there about smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors, as well as recommendations on how many you should have in your home and where you should place them.”
Hardwired alarms should also checked and any alarm over 10 years old needs to be replaced.
