Oilsands executives lay out Keystone XL alternative

A judge has slammed police for the unlawful search of an alleged gang member’s borrowed vehicle, in which they found a loaded handgun.

Now, the Crown may be appealing Thursday’s ruling that dismissed the firearms charges.

The judge said police seized and searched the car Nicholas Chan was driving because they were suspicious the car was armoured and he was armed.

Chan was pulled over in March 2010 after he made a lane change without signalling.

He refused to get out of the car before being dragged out, and wouldn’t give officers his name.

The judge fined Chan $2,000 dollars for obstruction.
