Cross-border holiday shopping dips

Fewer Canadians say they’ll cross the border to do their Christmas shopping this year.
A Deloitte Canada survey suggests 32 per cent of people will buy in the United States, down eight per cent from last year, and a whole 13 per cent from this time in 2009.
Deloitte’s retail consulting lead tells The Calgary Sun the findings are surprising, given the Loonie buys more today in the United States than it has in the past two years.
He says people may be opting to stay in Canada because of the hassle of crossing the border, or because many U.S. retailers are now cropping up here.
