To mark Remembrance Day, The National Film Board of Canada is making the documentary “The Van Doos in Afghanistan” available for free online viewing.
The movie is a chance to see the daily lives and routines of the most recent Canadian soliders in the region.
According to the NFB, the interviews bring home the complexity of the issues on the ground and shed light on the little-understood demands of the men and women serving in the region.
Producer Anne-Marie Rocher tells 660News it was an eye-opening experience talking to the soldiers.
“We had a chance to be near the soliders when they were right in the mission,” she says. “We had the chance to gather emotion and follow them in their daily lives to see them eat and exercise, and where they are more relaxed.”
The interviews were conducted earlier this year.
The documentary streams for free Friday on the NFB’s website.
