Drivers speeding along the Calf Robe Bridge on Calgary’s Deerfoot Trail during six months of construction forked out more than $400-thousand in tickets.
Constable Jim Lebedeff with the Calgary Police Service tells the Calgary Sun more than three thousand drivers were caught speeding.
According to the Sun, 1,958 tickets worth $103 dollars each went to those exceeding the posted limit of ’50.’
More than 11-hundred drivers were nailed with fines of $206-dollars for speeding when workers were present.
Lebedeff says it’s absolutely scarey. He’s clocked people doing 20 to 30 over the limit when workers were there.
He says you’d think drivers would be more considerate.
Lebedeff says police beefed up enforcement on the stretch largely due to complaints from construction workers.
