Canucks face Islanders after inconsistent road trip

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canucks haven’t played at home since a convincing 7-4 win over the Washington Capitals two weeks ago but they’re back in town to host the New York Islanders tonight.
The Canucks played six games on their road trip and finished up with a 3-3 record.
They kicked off the trip by easily beating the Calgary Flames 5-1 but then they dropped back-to-back games to the St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild. After winning the next two against the Chicago Blackhawks and Los Angeles Kings, the Canucks wrapped up their trip on Friday night with a 4-3 loss to the Anaheim Ducks.
The Islanders come into the game still searching for their first victory away from home. They have a 0-3-2 record on the road. They thought they had a win in Colorado on Thursday night as they took a 3-0 lead before falling 4-3 in overtime.
New York has been juggling three goaltenders this season with Rick DiPietro, Evgeni Nabokov and Al Montoya all on the active roster. Nabokov is expected to get the start in goal tonight with Montoya backing him up.
Daniel and Henrik Sedin are the hottest two Canucks as they’ve combined for 12 points in the last three games.
This is the lone meeting between the Canucks and Islanders this season. They played once last season as the Canucks took a 4-3 victory in a shootout. The last time the Islanders were in Vancouver was March 16, 2010. New York won the game 5-2 and John Tavares, who was a rookie, had five points.
