Wintery blast causes headaches for commuters

Old man winter gave us an unexpected blast of snow Monday, catching many people off guard.

The flurries were light and didn’t last long but were enough to make the streets a bit icy.

660News traffic guru Trace St. John says the afternoon drive also took longer then normal as drivers adjusted to the slick conditions.

The city’s Julie Yepishina-Geller tells 660News, crews are out if force trying to get the streets back in shape.

Highways around the city are listed in good to fair condition.

Cochrane RCMP Corporal Greg Stanndard says they responded to a few crashes and the highways are a bit icy and wet.

In the city, the main roads are in decent shape however the side streets are still a bit slick.

Another blast of winter is in the forecast for later in the week.
