Hockey Canada to look at whether more neck protection is needed

Hockey Canada is set to review the risks of slap-shot blocking following an accident that killed a 16-year-old defenceman in Edmonton.
Officials say Kyle Fundytus was blocking a shot on Saturday when he was hit in the neck and later died in hospital.
While he was wearing a throat guard to prevent cuts to the neck, the vice president of Hockey Canada’s membership services tells The Globe and Mail, the agency will review whether more protection is needed.
Fundytus was remembered Monday by family, team members and classmates as a friendly go-getter on and off the ice.
