For the third year in a row, several Alberta breweries are getting together to raise money for charity this holiday season.
The Unity Brew is being held Saturday at Big Rock Brewery with 9 brewers holding a ‘mash in.’
They will donate the proceeds from the beer they make to several area charities.
In 2010, the event raised $7,000 for the Kidney Foundation of Alberta, 1400 pounds of food went to the Canmore and Jasper food banks, $1,200 donated to the Canmore food bank and $2,000 to the World Cup Academy.
Brewhouse manager at Big Rock , Jody Hammell, says this years beer is a Blonde Spiced Ale with hops and malts from around the world, which will be spiced with hints of cinnamon, coriander, nutmeg and ginger.
He says the beer should be available in early December at the brew pubs of the participating breweries: Big Rock Brewery, Wild Rose Brewery, Brew Brothers, Alley Kat, Drummond, Banff Ave Brewing, Jasper Brewing Co., Grizzly Paw Brewing Company and Brewsters Brewing Company.
