Province cracks down on drunk driving

A new bill to crack down on drunk driving is expected to go to the Alberta legislature as the fall sitting begins Monday.

The Calgary Sun reports, there are new fines and penalties for drivers who blow in the .05 to .08 range.

Transportation Minister Ray Danyluk resists comparison between the new Alberta law and the changes in BC.

He says this is Alberta-made legislation.

Danyluk says they’re asking that those who blow over .08 don’t get their driver’s license back until after the issue is settled in court.
