The Lions advance to the 99th Grey Cup

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The BC Lions scored on four consecutive possessions in the second quarter en route to a 40-23 triumph over Edmonton in the CFL Western Final in front of 43,313 fans.
BC will meet Winnipeg in the title game next Sunday.
Travis Lulay had touchdown passes to Geroy Simon and Andrew Harris, while Paul McCallum booted two field goals before the end of the first half to give the regular season West division winners a 26-3 cushion at half time.
In the second half, the Leos had a 13 yard touchdown run from Andrew Harris in the third quarter and Travis Lulay rumbled in from 61 yards out midway through the fourth quarter for BC’s final points of the day.
The Lions defence allowed two fourth-quarter touchdowns. They forced four turnovers, picking off Edmonton quarterback Ricky Ray three times. Dante Marsh had two of the interceptions.
Prior to the game, the Lions had a moment of silence for Dylan Reichelt, the son of Lions Head Trainer Bill Reichelt. Dylan passed away last weekend in a car accident. The Lions also wore DR stickers on their helmets.
Earlier, Winnipeg defeated Hamilton in the Eastern Final 19-3. The Blue Bombers meet the Lions in the Grey Cup Final next Sunday afternoon at BC Place. The Leos last won the CFL championship in 2006.
