Jasper Lodge Fire destroys signature cabin

A fire at a Jasper National Park resort has left one of its signature cabins in ruins.

The blaze happened early Thursday at the Stanley Thompson Cabin at Jasper Park Lodge.

Jenny Dunbar of Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, which operates Jasper Park Lodge, says no one was in the cabin at the time.

The five-bedroom, five-bathroom cabin was built in 1972 and rents for as much as $4,000 a night.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
