Watch out for holiday thieves

While Calgarians are out spending their hard-earned money on Christmas gifts, the city and police are reminding everyone that thieves are out en masse as well.

So, they’re launching Operation Christmas Presence to inform shoppers about not leaving packages in plain sight in their cars while they shop.

Most thefts from vehicles are crimes of opportunity so simply hiding packages, or removing them, will discourage would-be robbers.

Another option is picking up an “All Valuables Removed” placard from any Calgary police district office, or Alberta Motor Association centre.
