Confirmed: Innisfail woman killed by explosive package

The RCMP have now confirmed that the explosion that killed a woman at her Innisfail home on Friday was a package that was dropped off at her fourplex apartment suite.
The Mounties have brought in experts from Ottawa, who have experience in dealing with explosives in Afghanistan, as part of the investigative team. According to the Calgary Herald, they’re still trying to figure out what — if any — device was in the package triggering the explosion.
Investigators emphasize the parcel was likely dropped off in person by someone and not delivered by mail or courier.
The explosion killed 23-year old Vicky Shachtay who was confined to a wheelchair following a car crash a few years ago. Her 6-year old daughter Destiny wasn’t home at the time of the explosion, but a caregiver — who escaped the blast unscathed — was in the residence.
Shachtay was known for her volunteer work in the community
Police continue to warn residents in the town of 8,000, about 120 kilometres north of Calgary, about accepting any unexpected hand delivered packages.
