City bracing for first “snow event”

As of 8 p.m. Wednesday night streets that have been clearly marked as a snow route will be off limits for parking.
The ban will remain in effect for 72 hours and primarily impacts major roadways and bus routes affecting about 12 per cent of Calgary drivers.
If you have a job that keeps you out of town for days at a time, like a truck driver or flight attendant, leave an set keys with a neighbour because the city won’t be making any exceptions.
As for where you should park when the ban is in effect, Gord Elenko, who’s the manager of traffic with the city, didn’t really have answer other than you’ll have to figure that out on your own.
“We’re looking for Calgarians to use this as an opportunity to find an alternate place to park and we expect that there will be a high level of compliance,” says Elenko.
He adds those that don’t comply face the possibility of being ticketed and towed.
In total, about 126 kilometres of city streets are included in the ban, impacting about 12 per cent of Calgary drivers.
