Paxton trial about to wrap

Final arguments begin Wednesday in the Dustin Paxton torture trial.

The judge ordered the defence and Crown to begin wrapping up their cases, despite a defence contention that Paxton has not received a fair trial.

Paxton’s lawyers have applied to have the whole trial thrown out because they claim a police officer was caught on security video coaching a witness.

Court of Queen’s Bench justice Sheilah Martin says that application will be dealt with next week.

Paxton is accused of torturing and beating his Calgary roommate and coworker, who was dumped at a Regina hospital last year.
