Whether it was Mother Nature, the royals or celebrities, according to AOL there were a lot of newsworthy items capturing Canadians’ interest over the past year.
The royal wedding between Will and Kate tops the list in this country based on the number of people using AOL’s search engine to hunt for information about the nuptials.
Not far behind was the very public strike at Air Canada, as well as the controversial trial of Casey Anthony, the young Florida mother acquitted of killing her daughter.
Mother Nature was another headline-grabber in the news category including the earthquake in Japan and Hurricane Irene.
As for celebrities, the death of U.K. crooner Amy Winehouse, who was found dead in her home, drew a lot of attention online.
Canadians were also moved by the death of NDP leader Jack Layton.
