In the coming days, many people will be decorating a Christmas tree in their home.
Carmen Rahner with Golden Acre Garden Centre tells 660News, not only is it important to keep the water reservoir of a live tree topped up, don’t set it up near a heat register.
“At least put a deflector on that air vent or if you can get away with it, close it.”
She says people can buy a live tree and leave it outside, “It will last longer if it stays in a nice cold place in your yard, a place that’s cold day and night until you are ready to bring it in.”
Rahner says with proper care a live Christmas tree shouldn’t start shedding it’s needles until well after the holidays.
