Final arguments in Paxton trial

The lawyer representing accused torturer Dustin Paxton at his assault trial is spending the day (Thursday) trying to poke holes in many of the 40 witnesses called by the crown over the past two months.

Moving through testimony, witness by witness, defence attorney Jim Lutz pointed to inconsistencies on many accounts including the victims own contention over and over at this trial that he was beaten by Paxton on a daily basis.

He then pointed out dozens of photographs produced by a friend of the victim from a social gathering, nine months before he was dumped at a Regina hospital, showing him healthy, happy and injury free, photos Lutz told the judge are demonstrative evidence that daily beatings could not have happened.

He also suggested some of the witness testimony at this trial could have been tainted by an abundance of media coverage and information on the internet.
