Paxton’s defense lawyer pokes holes in testimony during final arguments

The defense lawyer in Dustin Paxton’s torture trial says it needs to go into a third day to complete its closing arguments.
On Thursday, Jim Lutz ran down the testimony of each of the forty-plus witnesses, trying to poke holes in testimony heard before the court.
Lutz told Justice Sheila Martin that Abraham Chutta, one of Paxton’s alleged victims, lied in his testimony and at times, exaggerated.
The defense claims Chutta was motivated to lie about being abused by Paxton, so he could a get a free ticket home to Winnipeg and says the lies were told to suit Chutta’s needs.
The defense is expected to wrap up its closing arguments Friday, when their focus will be on discrediting the testimony of the main witness in this case.
