Police charge man with sexual assault

A man has been charged following a sexual assault downtown in early November.

Police say a woman was walking on 1st Street at 15th Avenue SE at around 6 a.m. when she was approached by a man who asked her if she wanted to go where he had some alcohol.

She agreed to go with him. Once there, in a fenced dumpster area she was allegedly sexually assaulted by the man who said he had a weapon.

29-year old Daniel Christopher Mahon is charged with one count of sexual assault.

He is currently at the Calgary Remand Centre and will appear in court on Monday.
