Seniors, low income suffer from tax hike

Critics of Calgary’s six per cent tax hike are saying low-income families, seniors, and small business owners will be hurt most by the increase.
Scott Hennig, with the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, tells the Calgary Sun the hike is well above current inflation of 2.5 per cent.
Hennig anticipates low-income families will see about only a 2 per cent increase in earnings next year.
Meanwhile, Richard Truscott with the Canadian Federation of Independent Business claims the tax-hike could mean small business owners cutting-back staff hours while still trying to generate more revenue.
