Law Student testifies at Dustin Paxton trial

Allegations of witness coaching have surfaced at the Dustin Paxton trial.

A law student testified Wednesday that she saw a police officer signaling a crucial crown witness by nodding his head while the witness answered questions from defence council Jim Lutz.

The defence is arguing the judge should stay the prosecution of Paxton because of the handling of the witness and charter breaches surrounding Crown disclosure.

Meanwhile, the judge overseeing the case ruled she would not recuse herself; The defence was hoping to get a new judge to hear its application for a stay of proceedings.

Paxton is facing multiple charges for allegedly abusing a former roommate.
