Conservative MLA hangs it up

Another veteran Conservative MLA is not running in the next provincial election.
Ken Kowalski, first elected in 1979, has held a number of cabinet posts and been the speaker for the last 14 years.
Kowalski has announced he is retiring.
This brings to three the number of veteran Tories who announced similar moves this week, but Mount Royal political scientist Keith Brownsey tells 660News he thinks its par for the course.
“To think this is a normal turnover as you approach an election government MLA’s who have served extended periods of time 10, 15 or more years. Really evaluate their situation look at the future and it may be time for them to leave,” said Brownsey.
Regarding Kowalski, Brownsey says its quite a remarkable political run to have been in office since 1979 and served under every single P.C. Premier in provincial history.
