The city didn’t get enough weekend snow to declare a snow event, but you still have to clear it off the sidewalk in front of your home.
Bylaw Boss Bill Bruce tells 660News they expect to start getting complaints about unshovelled sidewalks, later Monday afternoon.
“A snow event is strictly related to the roads all the rules still apply so 24 hours after it stopped snowing this weekend you’re walk needs to be cleaned. That becomes more important we have some more milder weather today, then the weatherman is predicting it turning cool again,” said Bruce
Bruce says a warning comes first after a complaint, and if it’s not cleared after a further 24 hours, a contractor will be assigned to clear the walk at a minimum fee of $150 dollars.
