Record land sales for Alberta this year

Our province has scored some bragging rights in terms of record land sales this year, after exceeding the $3.5 billion dollar mark.

Energy Minister Ted Morton says this is a good sign our province remains competitive and attractive to new investors.

Christine King with Alberta Energy tells 660News, this is something to stop and take notice of.

“[The money] is a huge milestone, not just for government, but for everyone in Alberta and this will certainly go a long way to supporting the programs and services that help all Albertans, and this is certainly a sign the economy is doing very well,” she says.

Land sales are what oil and gas companies pay for the right to drill in provincial
areas.

The total revenue for this year exceeded 2010 by more than $1 billion dollars.
