Snake discovered in Mission apartment building

A resident of an apartment building in the Southwest community of Mission made had a startling discovery Wednesday afternoon.
Shortly after 1 p.m., a three foot long snake found its way under a sink in the suite.
Brian McAsey with the Calgary Fire Department says fire crews were able to corral the serpent without too much problem.
“At the time we didn’t know what species it was; it was described as black to us. I think it was because the reptile was in a dark area” said McAsey. “We found out it was a Rainbow Boa, it had beautiful iridescence in its skin. We didn’t know if it was poisonous or not so we let the rookie go first and it seemed to work out in the end.”
The snake is now in the care of the Calgary Humane Society until the actual owner can be tracked down.
