Triple murder-suicide on Highway 2 near Claresholm

A man shot four people, killing three before he turned the gun himself on Highway 2 near Claresholm around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.
Two men and a woman were found shot dead in two vehicles while another man and woman were taken to hospital, one by air ambulance.
Sgt. Patrick Webb says the man has since died but the woman should survive the ordeal.
All are in their early 20s and no names will be released until families have been notified.
The Guardian newspaper in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island is reporting two of the men are from that province and were headed to the Calgary airport to catch a flight home.
The Guardian says 20 year-old Mitch Mclean and Tanner Craswell , who only turned 22 on Wednesday attended the Praire Baseball Academy in Lethbridge and played for the Lethbridge Bulls of the Western Major Baseball League last season.
The paper also says the woman, recovering in hospital is from Charlottetown, but it remains unclear who the other victims are.
The highway has reopened in the southbound direction only after RCMP had it closed to investigate.
Residents in the town don’t believe the victims are from their small town. Josh has been living in Claresholm his whole life and tells 660News he hasn’t heard of anything like this happening in his town before.
“There is the odd drug bust and the odd bar fight that might get out of hand and someone goes to the hospital but violence on this scale is unheard of around here.”
