Calgary Sgt. is running for politics

The Calgary police’s own Sgt. Mike Ellis is running for politics.

The lifelong Calgarian says he’s seeking the Progressive Conservative nomination to run in Calgary-West in the next provincial election.

Ron Leipert, who holds the seat now, announced earlier this month he’d not be seeking re-election.

Sgt. Ellis has been a part of the service for the past nine years.

His platform will focus on supporting community recreation funding, prioritizing public safety and security and getting the most bang for the taxpayer buck.
