Not just Christmas toys change over time

Twenty years ago kids wanted Super-Soakers and Skip-its under the tree.
Now, it’s cell phones and laptops.
A long-time Vancouver principal says she has seen the holidays change over the years.
Mette Hamaguchi has been a principal in Vancouver for over 20 years and claims the biggest difference isn’t what kids want for gifts, but dealing with multicultural changes at school.
“We also work hard at helping kids who are new [to the country], to understand the ritual of holidays that we have, but also that kids have in other countries, ” she says.
She adds there is more of a focus on giving back these days, showing kids it’s more that just what you get for Christmas.
