If you are going away for the holidays make sure your house looks occupied.
Have the walks shovelled and ensure the mail is picked up when you are out.
Gifts and other valuables should be kept out of sight and away from windows.
She adds it is also a good idea to take note of suspicious behaviour and be on the look out for strangers approaching your front door.
Also, mark your gifts and take pictures or have a record of some of the new things coming into your home.
