Ken Hughes resigns

The head of the board that runs Alberta’s health-care system has announced he is stepping down.
    
Ken Hughes has resigned as Chairman of Alberta Health Services effective immediately.
    
Hughes says he is leaving the job to pursue other interests.

The Herald reports Hughes plans to seek the PC nomination in the Calgary-West riding, the area that retiring Finance Minister Ron Liepert represents.   
    
Hughes will be temporarily replaced by Vice-Chair Catherine Roozen.
